Trail Kõke'e State park Zaterdag 12 april 2025 

We gaan de bergen in samen met Tara, onze buurvrouw. We hebben er heel veel zin in en het weer ziet er goed uit. In de bergen aangekomen is het koeler en heerlijk weer om te wandelen. De wandeling gaat door het bos. Genaamd: Berry Flat trail. Schitterende gigantische "denne" bomen, ooit geplant door de Japanners. En lagere bossen met guavebomen. We genieten volop van de stilte van het bos.

Daarna stoppen we bij een plek waar we over een grasland lopen. We lopen licht stijgend omhoog, niet wetende wat ons te wachten staat. Tara weet wat ze ons wil laten zien. Het is een schot in de roos. Net over de heuvel zien we een enorm uitgestrekt canyon. Met prachtige groene hellingen en rode rotsen. Het was een fantastische verrassing en genoten weer volop wat de natuur ons liet zien! Dit gebied heet; Secret Bluff. Dank je Tara dat je ons hier naar toe hebt gebracht. Een groot voordeel wanneer je met een inwoner van het eiland een tour gaat maken. Zij weten de mooiste plekken.

Trail Kõke'e State Park Saturday, April 12, 2025

We are going into the mountains together with Tara, our neighbor. We are very much looking forward to it and the weather looks good. Arriving in the mountains it is cooler and great weather for hiking. The hike goes through the forest. Called: Berry Flat trail. Gorgeous giant “pine” trees, once planted by the Japanese. And lower forests of guava trees. We fully enjoy the silence of the forest.

Then we stop at a place where we walk across a grassland. we are walking slightly uphill not knowing what to expect. Tara knows what she wants to show us. And she knows what we like. Just over the hill we see a vast expanse of canyon. With beautiful green slopes and red rocks. It was a fantastic surprise and again thoroughly enjoyed what nature showed us!  This area is called; Secret Bluff. Thank you Tara for bringing us here. A great advantage when you tour with a native of the island. They know the most beautiful places.
